Poke! Stick! Poke!

Today was a big day for Tripp at Dr. Pierson's office. Not only did he weigh in at 12 pounds 13 ounces, he had his first series of shots including DTAP, Polio, HIB, Hep B, Pneumococcal, and Rotavirus. His father had a talk with him before so he would take it like a man. I'd say he did pretty well.

Loose Park

Now that Kansas City is in the 80s during the day, Fredo decided to pack us a picnic lunch. Off we went to Loose Park which is about a mile from our house. It was really nice to be outside and breathe the fresh air. As much as I love air conditioning, it was getting really stale. I can already tell fall is on the way.

Nova also had a good time. Believe it or not, he was so happy to get out of the neighborhood he didn't even hawk our lunch! We tired him out I think.

Exciting things...

Tripp went to playgroup again this week with his mommy. Its good for her to get out and talk to other women who are also raising children about the same age. Tripp is the youngest of the group, but they say he will catch up with the others as time goes on. There are about 15 women in the group and about five or six show up each week. We talk about schools, diapers, wine, activities for children, food, napping, feeding, growing, development...you name it. One day I hope to host playgroup here, but I am just not ready to yet.
Today daddy is home and working. While Tripp is sleeping his mommy is going to get out and try to do her first post pregnancy jog. Lots of pounds to loose, so let's hope they come off quick! Also, she hopes to get out and get her nails done which is much needed.

Friends

One last group of visitors stayed with us this past weekend in Kansas City. We were lucky enough for Anna Tierney and her son James, age 2, to come and visit. We had lots of adventures including Deanna Rose Farmstand, a tour of the Leawood Fire Station, and a visit to the Kansas City Zoo. Anna and James will be missed, but we will see them again in less than six weeks on our vacation to Philadelphia and Avalon.

Boy oh boy! All boy.

Dr. Pierson was pretty thrilled with the weigh in of 10.2 pounds yesterday, 22 inches long.

Time flies

Especially when you are having so much fun!

In the past few weeks we have had a steady stream of visitors to our home in Kansas City. Many meals of Oklahoma Joe's, many walks through the neighborhood, many home cooked meals, many long nights, early mornings, and virgin diaper changes...

Among our visitors were an extended visit by Tripp's Grandmother Lulu. Lulu stayed with us for about two weeks helping out around the house, taking care of Tripp, taking care of Annie, and helping get things "just right" before returning back to her hometown of Fort Wayne, Indiana. I could have never done it without her help and I will be forever grateful.

Great Uncle Mike and Aunt Mary Burke visited from Harlan, IA. They spent their time visiting with the family and having the big meal of the day from Arthur Bryant's BBQ since Oklahoma Joe's was closed on Sunday, much like the rest of Kansas City.

Uncle Benoit (Frenchy) and Aunt Katie (Kay-Kay) visited us from sunny California. Katie and Benoit brought us the cool weather from Los Angeles and helped us keep our cool by walking to dinner in Brookside with our "Bees Knees" road sodas. Auntie Katie just couldn't get enough of little Tripp.

Next we had another visit from the City of Brotherly love, well Newtown Square, PA. Senior aka "Pop" visited for a long weekend. You could find him pulling weeds, smoking his cigar outside, or cat napping on the couch in the early evening. Rosemary also came for a long weekend, but extended her travels until today, Wednesday. She was super helpful around the house, but was more helpful to Annie as she was able to get some much needed sleep while Rosemary took all the night feedings. What a champ.

Auntie Lynn and Uncle Brandon also visited us for a long weekend from New York City. Those city slickers sure were comfortable in suburban Kansas City. We truly had a good time with them in our home.
